Frequently Asked Questions

What is Integrative Medicine?

Integrative medicine is a holistic approach to healthcare that combines conventional medical practices with evidence-based complementary therapies to promote healing and overall well-being. It focuses on treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—rather than just addressing symptoms. Integrative medicine emphasizes the importance of lifestyle, environment, and social support in achieving optimal health, and it often incorporates practices such as acupuncture, yoga, pilates, meditation, nutrition counseling, evidence-based supplements, biofeedback, and stress management. This patient-centered approach fosters collaboration between the practitioner and the patient, empowering individuals to play an active role in their health journey.

What is the difference between an Integrative Consultation and Concierge Primary Care?

An integrative consultation focuses on addressing specific health concerns through a holistic approach that combines conventional medicine with complementary therapies. During this type of consultation, Dr. Juvy works with you to identify root causes of your health issues and create a personalized plan that may include lifestyle changes, stress management techniques, dietary guidance, and recommendations for supplements or complementary therapies. It is typically a short-term engagement designed to address targeted health goals. You can either do a one time consultation or sign up for a one year membership plan that includes the initial consultation and a follow up every 3 months to ensure you are staying on track with your health goals.

In contrast, concierge primary care is an ongoing, comprehensive healthcare relationship. This model provides continuous 24/7 access to Dr. Juvy for all your primary care and wellness needs, including routine checkups, preventive care, and management of acute and chronic conditions. Concierge care goes beyond traditional primary care by offering enhanced services like same-day or next-day appointments, extended visit times, and a deeper focus on personalized wellness strategies. As part of the concierge practice you will have access to a network of exceptional specialists with whom Dr. Juvy will coordinate all of your care. Dr. Juvy’s concierge primary care patients also enjoy all of the benefits of the Integrative membership included in this service. Dr. Juvy has academic and clinical affiliation with Weill Cornell- New York Presbyterian and can provide hospital support at this location for concierge patients.

Both options prioritize individualized care, but concierge primary care offers a broader scope of continuous support, while an integrative consultation is ideal for addressing specific concerns or exploring holistic strategies to optimize your health. The integrative consultation or Integrative Membership Program are wellness focused, so you will need to have a separate primary care doctor to address any urgent needs and routine physical exams.

How Should I prepare for a consultation with Dr. Juvy?

To make the most of your integrative consultation, it is important to come prepared. Start by keeping a detailed log of your symptoms, including their frequency, triggers, and any other observations that may be relevant. Write down the specific issues or health goals you want to address during the consultation. Additionally, bring a complete list of medications and supplements you are currently using. It is also helpful to submit any pertinent and recent medical records prior to your appointment so Dr. Juvy can review them in advance.

Once you schedule your appointment, you will be asked to fill out an onboarding questionnaire. This form helps Dr. Juvy better understand your health concerns, goals, and priorities. By providing this information and preparing thoroughly, you can ensure that your consultation is focused, efficient, and tailored to your individual needs. This preparation helps set the foundation for a personalized plan that addresses your health goals and paves the way for optimal well-being.
